Smart Switch

A smart switch fits exactly where the old wall switch was, but besides pressing by hand it can be controlled from a phone and run scenes. It is the way to make a home smart without replacing every lamp — ordinary lights keep working.

• Still works by hand — elderly people and children need no phone.
• Remote control and timers for lights, curtains, gates and roller shutters.

• One button can trigger a whole scene: every light off when you leave.

Count gangs by the number of lighting circuits at that point, and check whether the wall box has a neutral wire — many smart switches need it. Curtains, gates and roller shutters need the dedicated switch type. We currently stock 14 Lumi part numbers.

Does a smart switch need a neutral wire (N)?

Most do. The Luto (glass touch) line and the 2-wire Lumes connect both L and N at the switch box; the WiFi water-heater and roller-shutter switches also need N. Older homes without a neutral can use Lumi's 1-wire Lumes version — contact HKD to ask about it.

How do Luto, Lumes and Luka differ?

Luto is glass touch with an aluminium frame, square 95×95 mm or rectangular 123×78 mm. Lumes is a mechanical push button for people who like a physical click, square 86×86 mm for common square back boxes. Luka is for KNX-standard smart homes, on a separate 20–30 VDC supply.

Do they still work without Internet?

Yes — press the switch by hand like an ordinary switch. Only remote control from a phone needs a network.

Is a central hub required?

The WiFi water-heater switch and WiFi roller-shutter switch work standalone over 2.4 GHz WiFi, with no hub. The Luka KNX line works with the Luka KNX central controller. For the other lines, HKD engineers advise based on the number of devices and the scenes you want.

Can curtains, gates or roller shutters use an ordinary switch?

No. Use the dedicated types: curtain switches (Open – Stop – Close, single and double curtain), gate switches and roller-shutter switches. Both Luto and Lumes come in these versions.

What is the warranty?
