A recessed spotlight exists to make one specific thing stand out: a painting, a shelf, a checkout counter. It installs like a downlight but does the opposite job — a downlight spreads light across a room, a spotlight concentrates it on one point to lift an object off its background.
What stands out
- Adjustable after installation — re-aim instead of drilling the ceiling again.

Choosing the right one
Start from beam angle, not wattage. Around 15° for a single object, 24–36° for shelving and counters; at 60° and wider it effectively becomes ambient lighting and the accent disappears. For fashion, cosmetics or food retail, take the high colour-rendering version — accent light that misrepresents product colour defeats its own purpose.
