A desk lamp lights one work surface — a study desk, a computer desk, a cashier counter. It does not replace the ceiling light; it fills the spot the ceiling cannot reach, right in front of the person sitting there, where the eyes work longest.
What stands out
- Puts light on the desk itself, not across the whole room.
- An arm that folds or swivels so the beam follows the task.
- Glare control: the light source is not directly visible from a normal seated position.
- Plugs in, so it can be moved without rewiring.
Choosing the right one
For study and office desks choose neutral white around 4000K with CRI ≥ 80 so text and colours read correctly; for evening reading 3000K is easier on the eyes.
